Ever since the dark ages of 1999 the ancient city state of Lithgow has been celebrating its "metalifferous" roots with the Lithgow Ironfest held on the Anzac Day Long Weekend in April with events like "The Battle of Lithgow" with the Medieval, Colonial and 20th Century Re-enactment clubs from around Australia.
Of course the Mountain Archers have always been there, look beyond the outer reaches of Lithgow Showground beyond the Tourney Ground of Jousting, and Colonial Encampment. Have a shot at the Lithgow Black Panther with a bow and arrow for 50 cents!
Lithgow really comes alive during this weekend with bands, buskers, Lithgow Pipe Band, Ballroom Dancing, Belly Dancing, Choirs, Art and Craft, Public Executions and Blacksmithing Workshops.
It really is a great alternative to modern day amusement parks and commercial expos.
Hope to see you there!
