2006 NSW STATE and NATIONAL INDOOR - more information

1A great time to get back into indoor shooting and a big thanks to Allan for getting it organised. If you are interested and want more details contact one of the club memebrs - Contact details.

Great minds at work. Sunday was a great day for Mountain Archers. Not much shooting was done but there were a couple of big events.

Our working bee was quite productive. With us getting two new target stands put in as well as a rebuilding one of the old target butts. A big thanks to all those who lent a hand. This is going to make a big difference to our shoots.

The other big event was the 3 new shooters completing their beginners course. Well done and congratulations. Our day was finished off with a BBQ. What Mountain Archers can do with a bread roll and a sausage is amazing. There are a couple of more photos on our photos link.

Working Bee Sunday 19th Feb.

We are going to be putting in 3 additional targets. The shoot on this day will be a Drake which is 90 arrows shot at a 80cm face from 30 metres. A fun one for all. So come along and lend a hand as the more people we get the quicker and easier it will be for all. We will be having a BBQ on the day and it is well known that we have some of the best BBQ chefs in the mountains.

Last Shoot - Sunday 12th Feb 2006

  • The Saturday of this weekend was for recurve and long bow shoots which our club had 2 representatives. Steve Farrell who had an idea about turning a floor board into a long bow and coming third in the state. That is just an awesome effort for Steve's first tournament.
  • Then there is Stephen Kilgannon who was the clubs recurve representative who with a monster of a bow to shoot came second in the State. Their was only 2 points difference at half time what an effort by a archer who as only been shooting for no more then 12 months.
  • Also that weekend on the Sunday was for compound bows and x-bows. Thomas Brownlow went to his first State tournament and was shooting in the under14 division, which in came third. Thomas's father Peter who is the clubs first Master Bowmen came sixth against some of the archers in the state.
  • Frank Guilfoyle was the clubs x-bow representative in his first State tournament shooting a x-bow and came third after all the trouble the bow as given him.

The club likes to congratulate all the archers who represented the club that weekend.

  • On Sunday 10th of April at 8.30 our club started another beginner's course with 15 people from the ages 8 to 50 years of age. They all quite enjoyed the class room learning ,watching slides about the art of archery. From there to the shooting line they all were quite surprised with the way they shot.
  • On the same Sunday Mountain Archers hosted Neath Archers for there interclub shoot, in which John Robinson from Neath decide to take a cooks tour. Once the competition got under way the class of archer's meant that Neath was not going home with the trophy, and in end there was only 100 or so points in it. Neath will have to be shooting  very good in 5 months time when Mountain Archers go to Cessnock for the return competition.
